Our curriculum is structured to support student mastery. Each course is clearly sectioned, and specific skills serve as core competencies.
Teachers begin instruction with the foundational basics, allowing students to work at their own individual pace. Once a target is mastered, students confidently move forward. Mastery is always demonstrated through concrete evidence.
Grading & Expectations
Progress is evaluated through a transparent grading rubric. To successfully pass a class, students are expected to achieve a status of Competent or Highly Competent on every single learning target.
The Curriculum Cycle
Instruction follows a continuous, purposeful cycle designed to reinforce long-term learning:
- Prior Knowledge: Assessing what students already know.
- Gain New Knowledge: Introducing new learning targets and foundational core skills.
- Make Connections: Linking theories to real-world applications.
- Purposeful Products: Creating meaningful work that demonstrates understanding.
- Sharing and Presenting: Showcasing finished work to peers and educators.
